The year 2019 has so far been quite exciting from cinegoers. We’ve seen realism through the eyes of Gully Boy, patriotism in Kesari, a social message through Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and many more films that told impeccable stories in the first quarter of the year. Adding to this movie list, Karan Johar’s Kalank hit the theatres today to give movie mongers a taste of love from the pre-independence era. Starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, Kalank is one of the biggest attractions at the theatres for the long weekend.

Kalank witnessed a 40% occupancy in its morning show on day one and has been steadily growing. This is greater than the first day occupancy of the two highest grossers of 2019, Kesari and Total Dhamaal. Going by the wide release of the film with 4000 screens across the country, Kalank is predicted to have the highest accounted opening at the box-office for 2019, beating Kesari’s Rs. 21.06 crores on its first day.

In addition to the cast and grandeur of the film, the extended five day weekend will add to the advantage of the film’s collection.
