“He Made A Fauji Out Of A Boy,” Shah Rukh Khan Remembers His Director, Colonel Raj Kapoor

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest superstars in Bollywood today but he has had his fair share of struggles too. It was in the television serial, Fauji, which was directed by Colonel Raj Kapoor, that we first got to see Shah Rukh’s acting talent. And since then, there was no looking back for the actor. On Wednesday, 10th April came the news that the man who gave SRK a platform to showcase his skills had passed away. Colonel Raj Kapoor’s children shared a post on Facebook writing, “This is to inform you that our beloved Dad, Raj Kumar Kapoor (Colonel), has left his earthly body to go on a brand new adventure.”

Soon, Shah Rukh took to Twitter and paid a tribute to his Fauji director. Sharing a photo with him, he wrote, “He loved me so much, and encouraged me. And today, if I am used to being mollycoddled on sets, it’s because of this man who made a ‘Fauji’ out of a boy, like his own. I will miss you Sir… always. May you find peace in your new mission.”

Seeing this tweet by King Khan, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur remembered the first time he was introduced to the actor by ‘Colonel’. “Yes, I remember well the day the ‘Colonel’ brought you to my house during Faujj. ‘Watch this young man’ He said. And he was so right. What a wonderful compassionate man @iamsrk“.
