Ed O’Neill is kissing and telling!
The Modern Family star sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, when he revealed that he had to lock lips with his daughter’s celebrity crush, Dylan O’Brien, for a recent role.
“I did a show for Jordan Peele. You know Jordan Peele Get Out. Marvelous. I hear the new one’s great,” he said of Peele’s new horror thriller, Us. “Anyway, this is called Weird City. Probably none of you saw it. It’s brand new. It’s kind of a futuristic thing, like Twilight Zone. A bit of a comedy.”
“I was working with Dylan O’Brien, who’s a young, handsome actor, who my daughter has a slight crush on,” said O’Neill, whose daughter Sophia was in the audience supporting her father. (He also shares daughter Claire with Catherine Rusoff.)
Continued O’Neill, 72: “And in the story, we kiss. And she had to witness this and was very upset that it was me and not her.”
While explaining that he had to kiss 27-year-old O’Brien for the YouTube series, a photo appeared on the screen of the lip-locking scene.
Sophia, who was visibly embarrassed, covered her face with her hands and was giggling as he shared the story.
“Wow,” said DeGeneres. “What are the odds of like an actor you have a crush on kisses your dad?”
“Very unlikely,” said O’Neill, who quipped of O’Brien, “Really good kisser.”
During his sit-down interview, O’Neill also discussed Modern Family coming to an end with season 11.
“I think we may go on a trip. We may go to Colombia, where Sofia’s from,” O’Neill said of filming the final season in costar Sofia Vergara’s home country.
During the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, in early February, ABC announced that the hit sitcom had been renewed for its final season.

“In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss,” said Karey Burke, President of ABC Entertainment.
According to Deadline, it could consist of 18 to 22 episodes.
A five-time Emmy winner for outstanding comedy series, Modern Family premiered in 2009 and stars O’Neill, Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Nolan Gould, Ariel Winter and Rico Rodriguez.
Modern Family airs Wednesdays (9 p.m. ET) on ABC.
