Only a month ago, Akshay Kumar made an announcement that his film Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, will be releasing on Eid 2020. This took many by surprise as Eid is the slot Salman Khan picks to release his films. A couple of days later, Salman Khan announced that his film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali co-starring Alia Bhatt will release on the same date.
Given this announcement, many expected the Sooryavanshi team to change their release date, avoiding a clash but today, producer of Sooryanvanshi, Karan Johar took to social media to announce that Katrina Kaif will be the leading lady in the film and and Sooryavanshi will hit the screens on Eid 2020. Clearing the air that there’s no truth to rumours about Akshay Kumar shifting the release date of the film, Karan Johar posted:

It’s hardly possible that Salman and Bhansali would change the release date either. The last time when Salman spoke about his film, Inshallah to media, he said that he will be starting Dabangg 3 first which will release in December 2019. And then, he added that Sanjay will release his film, Inshallah on Eid 2020.
So, its confirmed that Eid 2020 will see a clash of Salman’s Inshallah and Akshay’s Sooryanvanshi.
