Welsh appeared as the kingpin Doyle in Danny Boyle’s 2017 sequel to his classic 1996 film Trainspotting. It was his first professional acting role.
In a 2017 interview with The Sun, he spoke about his “criminal past as a young football hooligan” and how he changed his life around.
“I then went to prison for extortion and firearms and all that stuff,” he said at the time. “But for the last 20 years, I’ve run boxing gyms and organized big charity events in Edinburgh.”
Remembering Bradley Welsh as a man who was passionate about what he believed in and his community.
I remember how he turned my actors in the play ’A Cock And Bull Story’ into believeable boxers in just two sessions. Hard to believe this should happen here in Edinburgh. pic.twitter.com/9Hy6EmCqIM— Líam Rudden
