Dabangg (2010)
Cast: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Arbaaz Khan and Sonu Sood
Director: Abhinav Kashyap

The fight between good and bad has been serving as fodder for Bollywood films since the start of time. The Indian audience loved watching their hero beat up the bad guy and prove that good always wins over evil. However, after the 90s, those typical masala films were not seen in Bollywood. Films like Wanted and Ghajini revived the action masala films genre and Dabangg took it one step ahead.

The film tapped into Salman’s star power and made the most of it thanks to smashing stunts and super music. Sonakshi Sinha played the character of Rajjo, a woman who enters Chulbul’s life and changes his perspective on things. Chulbul begins to see life in a positive manner and realises the value of family. But, Cheddi Singh (Sonu Sood) tries to put two brothers of the Pandey family against each other for his own benefit. When Makhi (Arbaaz Khan) realises that Cheddi Singh used him, he turns back to his brother for help and they together are able to defeat Cheddi Singh. Despite being her debut film, Sonakshi Sinha was able to make a lasting impression on the audience with her performance.
Rowdy Rathore (2012)
Cast: Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha
Director: Prabhu Deva
Like we mentioned earlier, Prabhu Deva played a major part in reviving the action masala genre with his Bollywood remake of the South Indian film Wanted (2009). Wanted led to sort of a domino effect with several south films finding a Bollywood version. Three years after Wanted, Prabhu Deva returned with another South remake and this time it was Rowdy Rathore.

Rowdy Rathore was a remake of the Telugu film Vikramarkudu (2006) and marked the return of Akshay Kumar in the action genre after a short hiatus. Directed by the supremely talented and super-successful S.S. Rajamouli and starring Ravi Teja, Vikramarkudu proved to be a gigantic success at the box-office.

Lootera was inspired by American author O. Henry's short story 'The Last Leaf'. Now we use the word inspired because the director has recreated the story along with several modifications that cater to his vision. The biggest one being injecting the protagonist's character (Ranveer Singh) in the plot, which did not exist in the original story. However, with all the changes, Lootera ends up being a captivating tale that portrays emotions and passion and captures the highs and lows of a relationship magnificently.

Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha carried the film with their exceptional performances and even the supporting cast made a brilliant impact. This probably was Sonakshi’s most demanding role of her career and she came through with flying colours. She glides into her part with such effortlessness that it catches you by complete surprise.
Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (2014)
Cast: Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha

Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha paired up for the action thriller Holiday in 2015. This thrilling remake of the Tamil film, Thuppakki (2012), turned out to be a total paisa vasool. It's to Murugadoss' credit that he makes even the long-drawn action sequences not only believable but also entertaining. The film revolves around Captain Virat Bakshi (Akshay Kumar) who returns home to Mumbai on a holiday and ends up tracking a terrorist operation with his team.

This thrilling adventure is filled with stunning action choreography and will give you a feeling of pride for the relentless efforts of our soldiers to ensure India is free of terror. Despite not having large screen time in the film, Sonakshi’s does make an impact. People enjoyed her chemistry in this one with Akshay Kumar just like they did previously in Rowdy Rathore.
Ittefaq (2017)
Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna and Sonakshi Sinha
Director: Abhay Chopra

A classic whodunnit is a rare sight in Bollywood but has proved to be successful when executed right. Ittefaq, a remake of Yash Chopra's cult classic of the same name, is just as taut as the original. Just like the original, this one too was filled with enough twists and turns that keep you guessing till the climax.

In addition to the double murder charges, the new Ittefaq throws in a third angle of a suicide case that's also linked to the protagonist Vikram Sethi (Sidharth Malhotra). So, for close to two hours, we follow the investigation of the officer in charge Dev (Akshaye Khanna). The biggest plus for this film was the performances of the lead cast. Sonakshi Sinha, Akshaye Khanna and Sidharth Malhotra bring their a-game to the table with this film.
