The Coronavirus has put the entire universe under threat and there’s panic everywhere. To take proper precautions, several theatres have been shut down in our country and looks like Irrfan Khan starrer Angrezi Medium has suffered a lot because of it.
Angrezi Medium released on Friday, March 13. The sequel to Hindi Medium, which got great response for its trailer, didn’t know that in the wake of COVID-19, the film would suffer such loses. The Irrfan starrer opened to decent numbers, collecting Rs 4.03 crores on day one. However, on day 2, being a weekend, instead of picking up on the numbers, the film dropped and managed to collect only Rs 2.75 crores. The film’s total collection at the box-office now stands at Rs 6.78 crores. The fall in numbers is surely going to continue, as public doesn’t want to step out in cinema halls. That’s really sad for the film, which has its heart at the right place. Angrezi Medium also stars Radhika Madan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepak Dobriyal. This is Irrfan’s first film after he was diagnosed with rare cancer and got treated in London for over two years.
While the box-office numbers for the recently released films will remain weak, films like Sooryavanshi, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Udham Singh have shifted their release dates. Several movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Brahmastra, have even stalled their shooting to avoid mass-gathering on the sets.
