Ranbir Kapoor is currently in a great space. The actor recently bagged the Vimal Filmfare Award 2019 for Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) – Popular for Sanju. Other than this, Ranbir has two big projects lined up, one being Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra in which he stars opposite Alia Bhatt. The second is Karan Malhotra’s Shamshera alongside Vaani Kapoor. While Brahmastra already has been making headlines ever since its announcement, it’s Shamshera now which is grabbing all the attention.

According to the latest report in a daily, Ranbir will be playing a double role in the film. He’s currently shooting for both the roles simultaneously as per reports. Confirming the same, a source close to the project informed a daily, “The film revolves around a dacoit tribe that is fighting for its rights and independence from the British Raj. Apart from playing the protagonist, Ranbir might also be seen as the central character’s father. He has been shooting for both the roles simultaneously. This is the first time in his 12-year-long career so far that Ranbir will play a double role.”
For those who don’t know, Sanjay Dutt has also been roped in to play the antagonist in this dacoit drama. The same was confirmed earlier by director Karan in an official statement. He said, “Shamshera is a ferocious and fearless character in the film. Therefore his nemesis, the villain had to be even more fierce and monumental in every aspect. Who better than Sanjay sir to give us that impact on screen?” Yash Raj Films’ Shamshera is expected to hit the theatres in 2020.
