Kabir Khan's '83 starring Ranveer Singh in the lead has been in news ever since its inception. After Chirag Patil stepped into his father, Sandeep Patil’s shoes for Kabir Khan’s 83, now another son is all set to reprise his father’s role on the big screen. As per reports, the son of the late West Indies fast bowler Malcolm Marshall, Mali, has been roped in to play his father on-screen. To make the film look more realistic, Kabir Khan is trying to cast the sons of the players who were part of the 1983 world cup final, which India won against West Indies.
As per a source close to the film, “Mali is a fast bowler and a middle order batsman like his father and suited the part perfectly. Kabir has also approached the sons of other famous West Indian players and talks with them are on, including fast bowler Carl Greenidge, son of Gordon Greenidge. The team is also looking for players who will represent Team England who played India in the semifinals.”

When a leading daily contacted Kabir Khan, he confirmed the news, “Yes we are thrilled to have Mali Marshall, son of the legend Malcolm Marshall play the role of his father. Not only does he look like his father but his bowling action is also exactly like him. As we all know, Malcolm Marshall was part of the fearsome West Indies quartet of pace bowlers—Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Andy Roberts.”
Recently, Ranveer Singh, who is playing the role of legendary Kapil Dev in the film, was in Dharamshala to train for the film. '83 is slated to release on 10 April, 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
