Now that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah has got shelved, Filmfare informed you that the filmmaker has started work on his next Gangubai. The film will star Alia Bhatt as the lead and the same was indirectly confirmed by the actress at a recent event. Alia had said in a press interaction that even though Inshallah couldn’t happen, she assures doing a film with SLB. Speaking of Gangubai, we now have a big update on the project. A source close to the project informed a leading portal that the film is all set to go on floors in October this year.
The source informed, “Right now, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working dedicatedly on the pre-production, music and in giving final touches to the script. Alia has also got the brief and she too is putting all the effort in understanding the part. Bhansali wants to formally announce the project but he’s waiting for the shraddh period to end and it’s considered to be an inauspicious time. Once the said period ends on September 28, a grand announcement will be made. The film will go on floors in mid-October and shooting is expected to end by February.”
Gangubai is a film revolving around a brothel owner of Kamathipura. The project will be an adaptation of a chapter from S Husain Zaidi's Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
