Ready to step into the shoes of Bollywood veteran Govinda is Varun Dhawan who will be seen in the remake of Coolie No 1. Helmed by David Dhawan in 1995, the film will be remade by the filmmaker yet again with Sara Ali Khan playing the female lead opposite Varun.
While the actor is super excited for the project and ready to take on the challenge, it’s film’s writer Farhad Samji who recently got talking about the film in an interview. In his conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Farhad shared how Coolie No 1 remake won’t be a biopic or documentary on coolies. As he was hilariously questioned that are there still coolies anymore, he replied, “This isn’t a biopic on coolies nor is it a documentary. It’s a David Dhawan entertainer and we have taken porters as the backdrop but essentially, the film is about a guy getting trapped between two girls. It is all about entertainment. I don’t think the audience will come in to see how many bags Varun picks up. They will come to see a comedy.”

Meanwhile, Varun too spoke about the film in a recent interview. He said, “Coolie No 1 is from my own production house so I am involved thoroughly with the film. Karan (Johar) has taught us that we have to be involved in every facet and he says we are responsible for everything. I have learnt a lot from Karan,”
Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, the Coolie No 1 remake is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 1, 2020.
